Live It Up, directed by Lance Comfort and filmed at Pinewood Studios, was released in November 1963. It was released a year later in America as Sing And Swing. Typically thin on plot, the film acted as promotion for Joe Meek’s artists and their record releases. By no means an original concept, the era would bring numerous similar pictures such as What A Crazy World, It’s Trad Dad, and the legendary Farewell Performance. The latter being another film containing Meek artists including The Tornados, Heinz, and Chad Carson. A surviving copy of Farewell Performance has yet to be found, even the director does not possess a copy. Live It Up shares a same oddity with this film in that neither had a soundtrack album released. This is strange to say the least given that the aim of both was to promote record sales. Five of the tracks within Live It Up did not even make it to disc at all, and so it seems fitting that a soundtrack collection should now finally be compiled.
