The world may have come to a grinding halt but Western Star records continues to release records and I continue to produce artwork and packaging. This one has been signed off this week for production. I’ve lost count of the amount of releases I’ve worked on for this band over many, many years. Right from their self-released “Son of Kong” EP back in 2003. That’s 17 years of West Country nonsense which these nutters do so well! This double album brings together stuff from all those years from albums, vinyl releases and compilation appearances of which there have been many!
Little Lesley & the Bloodshots CD
Another cool project to be involved in. The second album on Western Star by “Little Lesley & the Bloodshots” a supeb American, female-fronted Rockabilly/Country trio for the Western Star label. There should be more girls playing the rockabilly double bass!
A couple of years ago I worked on their vinyl 7″ EP “Doin’ Fine” and last year their great first album “Heartbeat”.
Recreational Killer vinyl album artwork approved.
This week I repackaged this classic Sharks album, originally on the Anagram label in 1993, “Recreational Killer” has been well sought after yet unavailable for a million years (or something like that!). Now due for re-release on coloured vinyl on the Trophy label. Anybody worth their salt on the psychobilly scene knows the Sharks were integral to the birth of the music and this line up features the legendary Gary Day (of Morrissey’s band fame) on slap bass along with founder members Alan Wilson & Hodge. An absolute classic!
The Gazmen vinyl 10″ EP artwork
Just had this lovely 10″ vinyl EP cover artwork for “Trophy Records” approved. This is a classic EP re-issue with artwork based on the original packaging but suitably “grunged up” and modified accordingly. This features 4 songs from half of Morrissey’s old band of the time (25 years ago); Gary Day & Alain Whyte joined by Alan Wilson & Paul Hodges of psychobilly pioneers; The Sharks.
The Bad Detectives are in Mild Peril … again!
Back in 2016 I produced the artwork for a fine 10″ coloured vinyl rock ‘n’ roll release from West Country nutters; The Bad Detectives. With classy titles such as “There’s A Love Guru In The Village Barn” and “Shepton Prison Blues” I think you know it’s not going to be the usual affair! This 8 track EP has now been expanded with 6 more tracks to make a 14 track album and recpackaged for release on CD. Artwork now approved and on it’s way to the pressing plant.
